Good location for Kew and Hampton Court. Comfortable room. Good breakfast room. Courteous and obliging staff.
Poor and expensive menu in restaurant.
The location was good - London half hour train ride away, the staff were very obliging - my iron did not work and they replaced immediately without question
If I had a complaint it would be that the lighting was poor when applying make-up etc
Proximity to town centre
Four of us travelled as two couples wanting to stay at the same hotel, The Richmond Gate on arrival we were informed that one couple were to stay at the hotel next door (The Richmond Hill) while the other stay in the Richmond Gate. This is not acceptable and we got the feeling that is 'normal procedure'. Although we were compensated with a better room our friends had to move and to make matters worse in to a shoe box, again unacceptable. So be warned and check that you booked into the hotel you want before arrival!
Quiet and relaxing and easy walk into Richmond centre.
We thought that the Christmas lunch was average for the high price paid. It was not fine dining which I would have expected for £95 per head.
A nice place to stay, renovated and clean. Standard rooms are ok, superiors also meet all expectations.
The weekend breakfast...Too crowdy, you'll have to wait to get served.
you didnt have to check out till 12
Breakfast was'nt included in the price
A nice traditionally built English hotel. Good breakfast. Clean rooms, all necessary facilities and a sports centre included.
The Executive room we booked happened to be located on the top floor, with only stairs access. That was 4 floors up/downstairs every time ou go in and out. There's no lift in the hotel, so make sure you find out the room you book first, because we had to change ours for the regular one. The staff is friendly, though sometimes extremely slow... Comparing this hotel to Marriotts and other international networks would be a big mistake. It is a 'thing in itself', though quite cosy and nice. Mind that weekends are a time for weddings/events, so don't expect this place to be quiet. And weekends are also a problem to find a spot for breakfast... I'd rate it 3 stars maximum, quite pricey though...
I liked the atmosphere of the hotel the staff were very friendly
Breakfasts too expensive for what you got.
confortable, quiete, countryside
Relaxed atmosphere, helpful staff, pool
Tried to ring reception prior to visit five times to find out about dress codes. There was never any answer and nobody returned our calls. We therefore had to carry a lot of un needed luggage. I paid for our meal as part of the package booking only to find that additional costs would be applied when we arrived for dinner.
Everijthing was good
The room was very small
The efficiency and politeness of the staff who were also very helpful The comfort and appointment of the rooms
Stayed there for my daughter's wedding which was held at Pembroke Lodge, Richmond Park. We wanted a conveniently situated hotel which had good facilities, and the Gate was the perfect choice. I was pleased to see how easy it was to get into central London if we wanted to, so would consider this hotel for a London city break in future. Parking at the hotel was free - a huge consideration if wanting to stay near London. Guests who did do the trip into London on the train said it cost £7.50 return - and I think that allowed them to use the Tube all day too. The hotel is about 1 mile from Richmond Station.
The Richmond Gate is a small friendly hotel and provides all the facilities for a relaxing time away from home.
we found the staff friendly and helpful. The bar was a pleasant environment to enjoy a drink or barmeal. The location and surrounding environment were perfect for quiet relaxation. The decor in the public rooms suited the style and ambiance of the hotel. It all contributed to a most enjoyable stay
The only negative from our perspective was the size of the room. It was more like a large single than a double. There were no proper drawers for storage. Had we been staying longer than two days it might have felt claustrophobic.
